The campaign of the U.S. President, Joe Biden, has managed to raise 10 million dollars in the 24 hours following his State of the Union address, in which the president was more energetic than usual and strongly charged against his rival, the former president Donald Trump.

The amount obtained, 10 million dollars, represents the largest sum raised in 24 hours so far by the campaign, Biden's electoral team indicated in a statement.

During his speech on Thursday before the two chambers of Congress, Biden accused Trump, future Republican candidate for the November elections, of trying to hide the truth about the 2021 Capitol assault and of yielding to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

About 32.2 million people watched Biden's State of the Union address, an increase of 18% compared to the 27.3 million people who followed it in 2023, according to figures from the Nielsen firm, released by The Washington Post.

On the other hand, this Saturday, President Joe Biden regretted having used the word illegal to describe a migrant during his State of the Union address, which drew criticism from members of his own party.

"They are undocumented people. I should not have used illegal," the president said in an interview with MSNBC.

Biden recalled that, during his speech delivered on Thursday before the two chambers of Congress, he highlighted the differences between his policies and those of former President Donald Trump, the future Republican candidate for the November elections.

"One of the aspects I mentioned was the border issue and how he refers to these people, saying they poison the blood," Biden explained.
