It repeats: Trump and Biden will seek the US presidency again

President Joe Biden and his rival Donald Trump won enough delegates on Tuesday to secure their party's nominations in the 2024 presidential race, according to projections from US media.

The results of the four state elections on Tuesday were a predictable conclusion to the Democratic and Republican primaries, in which Biden and former President Trump had already disposed of the rest of the contenders.

Biden crossed the threshold of the necessary 1,968 delegates by winning Georgia, a state where Trump faces a trial for an alleged conspiracy to alter the results of the last elections.

For his part, Trump's victory in the state of Washington helped him secure the 1,215 delegates necessary to obtain the Republican nomination, and again the presidential race.

Headed for a rematch of their 2020 contest, Biden issued a statement against his opponent in the November elections.

"I am honored that the broad coalition of voters representing the rich diversity of the Democratic Party across the country has once again placed their trust in me to lead our party - and our country - at a time when the threat posed by Trump is greater than ever," Biden said.

Trump's notable victory in almost all state primaries to date led him to secure the nomination much earlier than most candidates in previous campaigns.

These results guarantee an extremely long, nearly eight-month, fight for the White House that is contested by the two oldest men who have ever started their presidencies in the United States.

With multiple lawsuits open against him, Trump insisted in a statement that the Republican Party is strong and united behind him.

"Under corrupt Joe Biden, we are a third world country, using the system of injustice to persecute its political opponent, ME!" he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Biden and Trump have a date in November

As in 2020, Georgia could also be decisive in the November elections. The announced duel is the same: Donald Trump, 77, against Joe Biden, 81, and the gap is very narrow, according to polls.

The two held rallies in this state on Saturday. They face off on two recurring issues, the age of the US president and migration.

Bolstered by a combative speech last week before Congress, Biden traveled to Atlanta to mobilize the African American and Hispanic electorate.

Trump has intensified his attacks on migrants crossing the border with Mexico, which he believes are "poisoning the blood" of the country.

As for the Democrats, Biden won in the Northern Mariana Islands, controlled by the United States, and in the states of Georgia, Mississippi, and Washington, as well as among those residents abroad.

In addition to Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Nevada are considered "swing states."
