Russia asserts that it has never interfered in US elections

Kremlin

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, asserted this Wednesday that Russia has never interfered nor plans to interfere in the United States elections, and that it will not allow anyone to meddle in its elections.

"We have never interfered in the elections in the United States nor do we plan to do so this time," said Peskov, referring to the U.S. presidential elections that will be held in November of this year, while speaking at the World Youth Forum held in the town of Sirius, in southern Russia.

He recalled that after investigating the alleged Russian interference in the U.S. presidential elections, which Donald Trump won in 2016, it was established that there was none.

Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow would prefer that the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, be reelected next November.

"In fact, Putin just paid me a great compliment. He said he prefers Biden to be president. It's a compliment," Trump said, commenting on the words of the Kremlin chief.

In his speech, the spokesman for the Russian presidency emphasized that Russia does not tell anyone how to live and wants no one to tell it how to do so.

"That's why, of course, we're going to suppress any attempt, in case someone interferes in our elections," he warned.

Peskov pointed out that Moscow knows that in many countries meetings are held where they debate how to question the results of the Russian presidential elections that will be held next week, in which Putin's victory is taken for granted.

"We are not going to pay attention to their conclusions and assessments. For us, what is important is our assessment, for us, what is important is our vote," he stressed.
