A Pentagon report on unidentified flying objects indicates that U.S. government investigations since the end of World War II have found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology.

They concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena misidentified.

The report published on Friday is a continuation of an announcement made by the Pentagon in 2022, according to which its Anomaly Resolution Office in All Domains (ARRO, for its acronym in English), created at that time, had not found any evidence suggesting that aliens had visited Earth or had crashed here.

Under the National Defense Authorization Act of 2023, ARRO was required to issue a report to Congress detailing the historical record of governments in relation to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) since 1945.

The Pentagon's press secretary, Major General Pat Ryder, said in a statement accompanying the publication of the unclassified version that last week he delivered to Congress the first of the two volumes of the report.

"The ARRO found no evidence that any U.S. government investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any UAP sighting represented extraterrestrial technology," the executive summary of the report said.

The report noted that, since 1945, the government had funded research to determine whether UAPs represented a risk to flight safety, technological leaps from competing nations, or evidence of "extraterrestrial technology under intelligent control."

It also said there was a persistent narrative in popular culture that the government, or a secret organization within it, had recovered several "spaceships from outside the world and extraterrestrial biological remains" and operates programs for reverse engineering of the recovered technology.

The U.S. military has been debunking UFO and flying saucer sightings for decades dating back to the 1940s.

The Pentagon said two years ago that its research efforts had resulted in hundreds of new reports, but nothing indicating intelligent extraterrestrial life.
